Accessibility

Last updated October 18, 2026

We want everyone to be able to play CalGuessr, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referenced by Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Accessible Canada Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We test as we build and fix problems as we find them.

What we've done

  • Every part of the game, the calculator and your account works with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
  • A "Skip to content" link jumps past the header.
  • When you lock in a guess or move to the next dish, focus moves to the new screen's heading so screen readers pick up where you are.
  • Form fields have labels, and errors are announced and linked to the field they belong to.
  • Text meets WCAG AA colour contrast, and nothing relies on colour alone.
  • Charts of how everyone did come with a text summary of your rank.
  • Pages reflow on small screens and when zoomed to 400%, and respect your device's reduced-motion setting.
  • Ingredients, cooking methods and calorie breakdowns are plain text and tables, not images.

Known limitations

  • Dish photos are described only by the dish name. Everything you need to make a guess is in the written recipe.
  • The shareable score card is an image. "Copy text" gives the same result as plain text.
  • The bot check that may appear when you guess or sign up is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, and its accessibility is managed by Cloudflare.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on CalGuessr is hard or impossible for you to use, or you need information in another format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and assistive technology you use if you can. We aim to reply within 30 days.
